not just adequate.
When we first needed some heavy-duty shelves to organize our own machine spares, the thought was easy, Google away and all would be simple, or so we thought. Whilst the request for shelves produced a vast array of different types, sizes and colour’s, remarkably, none seemed to fit our needs across our key necessity’s.
So, what could we do?
There was a need for sturdy, simple and practical storage that fitted in our spaces, that once assembled was worry free and would serve our needs for years to come, we just wanted some ‘Great’ shelves!
If only we knew of a local established steel stockholder and processor? Who was able to meet all of our needs, sounded just like us! We have the material, we have the facility to cut and bend, and oh so important we have the people with years of practical knowledge to supply the key input facts, so why not try to make some? After all we have been around since the 70’s.

The first batch
The first batch of shelves were born from many questions, how high? How deep? What material? what colour? how to fix etc. After much discussion and many changes the mark ‘X’ was rolled out and suited our needs perfectly, not over-complicated, no welding required, no painting, plenty of add on opportunity’s, could be fixed side by side, sturdy and held together with just good old-fashioned nuts and bolts. Could be made with a matching work table, and we even made the spanners required to tighten it all up! A complete package made all on one site.
We loaded up the shelves with the items we needed and soon realized that we had managed to load on nearly 2 tonnes of goods onto the three shelves! And it was still standing!
From this, we made some more for our factory, then we made some for our friends, who had seen the items from our socials, who themselves had thought of interest, and placed them in their own projects.
We then made some for company’s on our trading estate where we are based, and then to some of our suppliers and customers who all from word of mouth had seen and heard of our little project.
This has now developed into RealMon’s products, where we simply look at the needs of a practical requirement and provide a strong simple solution to the question. So far this has been applied to Shelving, Garden products, Security, auto and welding needs, all with the same ethos of how to design, create and supply quality home grown products that will last and meet all of the design needs.
Its also nice to be able to say ‘Made in Kidderminster’ and be part of the growing UK manufacturing hub where we can contribute valuable solutions to the world we live in.
All of the steel used to make our products, comes from our own excess and is fully recyclable, even the nuts, bolts & washers are re-purposed from our supply chain of goods coming into our works.
